Research Center Digital Health and Care

The interdisciplinary Research Center Digital Health and Care conducts research into technologies at the interface of health sciences, nursing science and engineering. We strive towards the goals of networking these disciplines and promoting the successful implementation of technologies in practice settings through research into methods, effects, and implementation strategies.

Our Mission Statement

We are an interdisciplinary team with interfaces to health, care and technology professions. 
Our applied research on health and care technologies focuses on the needs of users and aims at solutions that provide measurable benefits in practice. 
For this purpose, we pool the existing expertise on digitalization in healthcare at the FH Campus Wien together in the form of a hub and then make it available to the public, teachers, and students. 

 

Main Focus

Research on methods of user-centered needs assessment, development, and evaluation. 

Through this focus, research and development projects on digitization in healthcare benefit by selecting, adapting, developing and applying scientific methods. 

Research question: How can health and care technologies be designed, developed and evaluated?

Research on the acceptance and impact of health technologies.

In this focus area, high-quality results on the effects, acceptance and performance of technical solutions are obtained and published using the methods from focus area 1.

Research question: What acceptance (incl. technical performance, usability), effects and penetration do health technologies achieve in practical implementation?

Research on and development of technical innovations to support health and care professionals, their patients, and clients.

In this focus, solutions are developed for the Austrian and international healthcare market.

The Team of the Research Center Digital Health and Care

Infrastructure

The Research Center Digital Health and Care uses the infrastructure of the FH Campus Wien, in particular, those of the Departments of Health Sciences, Nursing Science and Engineering.  
 
Several laboratories are currently under construction:  

  • A User Experience Lab for evaluation studies 
  • A development lab for rapid prototyping  
  • A Living Lab for simulation of everyday activities and smart home solutions. 
  • A Teletherapy Lab for simulating therapy remotely. 
  • A Robotics Lab to simulate robotic and sensory assisted therapy.
