Lecture contents

Continuation of the knowledge gained from the first semester with group formation for the upcoming planning tasks. Technical planning - architectural design with design description, constructive considerations with Deskription, entry plan (floor plan, section, view) as well as a description of the construction will be developed according to the project.

Assessment methods

Grading scale according to examination regulations: GROUP PERFORMANCE: 40% Architectural and structural design including design description, design considerations and descriptions; INDIVIDUAL SERVICES 60% submission planning + building description + construction list

Teaching methods

Structural planning exercise in groups and individual performances up to a maximum of 6 students

Lecture contents

Building typology or design is the systematic framework for scientific research and development of the
building concept and for translating research into the teaching environment. The main objective here is to
expand the hitherto linear relationship between program of use and architecture into a complex reference
field, in which new factors incorporate.
Within this expanded research and analysis framework the focus is on design, thus developing skills for using
the typologies as a method.

analysis, as well as planning approaches practiced in order to historically preserve structures. The exercise
includes tasks of historic preservation of monuments and places as well as tasks regarding design and style.
In the context of historical architecture and engineering, the course presents and examines details of
revitalization projects.
