Lecture contents

The main focus of the course is the reading and understanding of scientific texts in a narrowly defined topic as well as literature research and the formal methods of scientific work. In this course the students are prepared to prepare the questions for their final master's thesis in the form of a disposition.
The focus here is on the formulation and character of the research question and the determination of the methodology to be used to solve the problem.

Lecture contents

The students are separated in groups WITH and WITHOUT "mechanical skills".
Four combustion engines will be dismantled and the steps will be documented (words, pictures, etc.)
Students without skills will be teached in theory and pactise regarding basic maschining processes (rolling, milling, grinding, drilling, etc.) before assambling the engines again.
The other students are dealing with a construction exercise.

. Cutting: cut up, chipping, wear, thermal cutting, removal process, water jet cutting
