Positive outcome of the Research Forum at FH Campus Wien on May 7 and 8, 2025: The 18th Research Forum of Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences ended with a record number of 620 participants. For the first time, universities from Austria and abroad also submitted their research projects. In total, there were 174 presentations and 74 posters from 24 universities of applied sciences and 16 universities. A wide range of content was presented - from biotechnology, packaging recycling and sustainability research to nursing research, social work, tourism and artificial intelligence.
At the evening event of the Research Forum at the Wien Museum, the Federal Minister for Women, Science and Research, Eva-Maria Holzleitner, praised the social mix, the internationality and at the same time the strong regional anchoring and the good job prospects as an advantage of the universities of applied sciences. Holzleitner promised that she would make every effort to ensure that the universities of applied sciences - alongside the universities - receive sufficient funding from the federal government.
Elisabeth Haslinger-Baumann, Vice Rector for Research and Development and patron of the event, was delighted: "We presented a scientific showcase of the universities of applied sciences. The ace up our sleeve is our close cooperation with companies, the public sector and universities. Thanks to our practical relevance, we are professionals in application-oriented research. For us, research means helping to shape the future and we accept this responsibility."
"Many thanks to all participants and especially to the researchers with their interesting and future-oriented projects. Together with my organizational team and the departments here at FH Campus Wien, you made the Research Forum a successful and exciting event!" the vice rector continued.
The extended papers of the research projects are currently being reviewed by experts. They should be published by Facultas Verlag by the end of the year. The abstracts will be self-published by FH Campus Wien.
