> Scientific theoretical discourses of quantitative and qualitative research as well as the quality criteria of quantitative and qualitative research
> Research design of quantitative research (experimental and non-experimental designs), internal and external validity of quantitative designs
> Intensive qualitative research methods (e.g. grounded theory, ethnography, phenomenology)
> Data collection methods in quantitative and qualitative research

Quantitative course content:
Basic scientific-theoretical position of quantitative research
The principle of deduction and formulation of hypotheses
Quality criteria of quantitative research
Overview of quantitative research designs
Overview of quantitative survey methods

- Basics of qualitative research
- Planning and procedure of the qualitative research process
- Overview of qualitative research methods (focus group, narrative interview, episodic interview, ero-epic interview, observation -auto-ethnographic writing)
- Overview of selected qualitative evaluation methods (grounded theory, content analysis, thematic analysis)
- Introduction to MAXQDA: importing transcripts, coding texts, outputting codes and importing them into word processing programs, outputting code findings
- Presentation of results in qualitative research

- Basics of questionnaire construction
- Overview of quantitative research designs in nursing science (experimental designs such as RCT or quasi-experiment; non-experimental designs such as correlation studies or meta-analyses)
- Basics of descriptive statistics (statistical parameters and measures of dispersion)
- Basics of inferential statistics (significance, correlation, hypothesis testing, frequency and cross-tabulations)
- Introduction to software programs for quantitative data analysis (SPSS® and Microsoft® Exel®)
- Research ethics
