FH Campus Wien was awarded the basic "University and family audit" certificate in May 2015. This state quality mark is awarded by the Federal Ministry for Families and Youth to universities that have successfully participated in the audit. To achieve this, it is necessary to create sustainable and needs-based framework conditions for a more family-friendly working and studying environment and thus create more freedom of choice for employees and students. It is essential for success that employees and student representatives are actively involved in the development of family-friendly measures.
During the subsequent three-year project period, numerous measures were implemented to support employees and students with children or care responsibilities. Following a successful external audit, FH Campus Wien was awarded full certification as a "family-friendly university" in 2018 - this certificate was awarded to the university again in 2021 following a review by an external auditing body. Further activities are currently being developed and implemented as part of the current audit period 2021 - 2024. More information under Gender & Diversity Management.
FH Campus Wien is legally obliged to carry out an audit every seven years to certify its internal quality management system in accordance with § 22 of the Austrian Higher Education Quality Assurance Act (HS-QSG). The internationally recognized and independent quality assurance agency evalag was commissioned to carry out the first audit. During a two-day on-site visit, five experts from the higher education sector in Austria, Germany and Switzerland convinced themselves that FH Campus Wien is successfully fulfilling its institutional responsibility for ensuring and developing quality in teaching, research and organization with a university-wide quality management system.
Based on the report of the external expert group and the university's statement, the accreditation commission of evalag certified the quality management of FH Campus Wien for a further seven years at its meeting on September 23, 2024.
The European Commission recognizes universities throughout Europe for their exemplary implementation of the Diploma Supplement. Out of a total of 69 universities in Austria, only 14 are entitled to use the Diploma Supplement Label (as of January 2013) - FH Campus Wien is one of them.
The Diploma Supplement is a central element of the Bologna reform of the European higher education system and part of the Europass. It is issued by the universities when an academic degree is awarded and provides a clear and internationally comparable presentation of the individual course of study.
In order to meet all the criteria for the award, the rectorate, the degree programs, the International Office and the Online Services of FH Campus Wien implemented a series of improvement measures. These included a more precise and standardized description of the competencies that graduates of a degree program possess, the integration of the Transcript of Records, i.e. the proof of academic success, into the Diploma Supplement and the automated issuance of the entire document. FH Campus Wien carried the Diploma Supplement label until 2015.
In December 2016, FH Campus Wien was awarded the first "Diversitas" prize by the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy. The prize, endowed with 25,000 euros, was awarded to FH Campus Wien for outstanding and innovative achievements in the field of diversity management in the Austrian higher education landscape. The award-winning project activities at FH Campus Wien include a package of measures entitled "Potential through diversity III: Accessible studying and working at FH Campus Wien".
The measures submitted create change at a structural level, in organizational and process workflows and in the awareness and know-how of managers, lecturers, employees and students when it comes to studying and also employing people with disabilities, chronic illnesses or certain limitations (such as deafness). The prize money will be used to implement the project measures at FH Campus Wien - with the aim of promoting accessible studying and an open and supportive university culture towards students and employees with disabilities and chronic illnesses.
In addition to individual measures, a sustainable integration of diversity management in all university structures and processes is necessary for the development of a diversity-oriented organizational culture. Gender & Diversity Management at FH Campus Wien is working with the university management to develop a diversity strategy for the entire university. The Ministry of Education, Science and Research awarded FH Campus Wien a main prize of 25,000 euros for the overall strategy “Diversität konkret!” (Diversity in practice!).
Diverse interests and different cultures come together in the specialist areas and fields of activity of a university. Awareness-raising and participation are necessary for a holistic diversity strategy: the structured involvement of students, lecturers, researchers, employees, managers as well as the university management. Together with diversity screening and monitoring, these provide the basis for target group-oriented measures. The aim is for applicants in particular to benefit from increased social permeability and equal opportunities in access to higher education and to reduce drop-outs.
In April 2022, FH Campus Wien received the highest award achievable in an EFQM assessment, "Recognized for Excellence 7 Star". This not only makes it the first and only university in Europe with seven stars according to the EFQM Model 2020 for the time being, but also secures another place in the list of excellent companies in Austria. Back in 2015, FH Campus Wien was the first university in the German-speaking world to receive the highest possible award in quality management at the time, "Recognized for Excellence 5 Star".
The EFQM Levels of Excellence are internationally recognized and comparable awards for organizations that deal intensively with the topic of corporate quality and wish to undergo an external assessment. The model is used specifically to implement improvement projects in a structured manner and to achieve demonstrable improvements and the associated increases in performance for the entire organization. The assessment is based on the implementation of the principles of the EFQM Excellence Model and is oriented towards a defined level and whether an advanced degree of maturity has been achieved.
In 2013, FH Campus Wien was the first university of applied sciences in Austria to be awarded the seal of approval for workplace health promotion. In March 2025, FH Campus Wien was awarded this seal for the fifth time in a row for its Campus Vital health management program.

The extensive course program ranges from activating activities such as back exercises or boxing to relaxation techniques to keep body, mind and soul healthy.
As a partner of the "GewaltFREI LEBEN" campaign, FH Campus Wien received a certificate for its commitment. Gabriele Heinisch-Hosek, Federal Minister of Education and Women's Affairs, thanked FH Campus Wien together with the project partners Association of Autonomous Austrian Women's Shelters, Vienna Intervention Center against Violence in the Family and Federal Youth Representation for their active participation in the campaign to prevent violence against women and children.
Together with over 180 partners from various areas of society, FH Campus Wien made an important contribution to the successful implementation of the "GewaltFREI LEBEN" campaign. This enabled a broad alliance against violence against women and children to be established and expanded. Awareness-raising, education, information and networking were at the heart of the campaign. The initiative to prevent violence against women and children was carried out throughout Austria from January 2014 to December 2015 as part of the EU PROGESS program and co-financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Women's Affairs (BMBF).
FH Campus Wien was certified as an entire organization according to ISO 9001:2008 for the first time in 2012.
This standard defines the minimum requirements for a quality management system in eight chapters. These include documentation requirements, management responsibility, resource management, product realization as well as measurement, analysis and improvement. The certificate was awarded by Quality Austria and must be renewed every three years.
The ISO certification complements the university's existing quality management system, which includes quality assurance tools such as the consideration of quality criteria when developing curricula, the evaluation of courses and internships by students, student satisfaction surveys and surveys of graduates and their employers. Quality management is becoming increasingly important in the education sector, not least in order to assert oneself against competitors.
In fall 2018, the company was recertified and converted to ISO 9001:2015.
FH Campus Wien was certified as a leading company in 2019 and recertified in 2021. In October 2015, FH Campus Wien was awarded the meritus in the category "Large organizations with over 250 employees". Queer Business Women and agpro - austrian gay professionals award this prize every two years to companies and organizations that are particularly committed to the diversity dimension of sexual orientation. The federal government, federal states, social partners and other organizations and supporters from the private sector promote meritus, which has now proven to be one of the main drivers of LGBTIQ issues in an organizational context. LGBTIQ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer people.
FH Campus Wien uses diversity management to implement measures that contribute to ensuring equality for all people at a structural, process and awareness level - regardless of their sexual orientation and gender identity. The aim is to create non-discriminatory framework conditions and to make social diversity visible and promote it.
