Overview

Large medical equipment in radiological diagnostics and therapy, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy are developing rapidly and along with this the possibilities of multimodal applications. The master's degree program provides a professional update in the RT fields of practice. In addition, you will specialize in RT process, radiation protection or medical technology and IT in medicine. In radiological technology it is increasingly important to optimize processes in examination and treatment procedures and to make evidence-based decisions. With research and interdisciplinary skills you will also sharpen your professional Profile.

What we offer you

FH Campus Wien is now the largest university of applied sciences for health in Austria. After the legal framework was created in 2006 to introduce the MTD academies and the midwife academy into the higher education sector, FH Campus Wien launched the first bachelor's degree programs in 2007. Shortly afterwards the first master's degree programs where launched in the Department of Health. Today, FH Campus Vienna now has extensive expertise and a large network at its disposal, all of which will benefit you in your studies. An important partner in the areas of education, research and development is the Vienna Hospital Association (KAV). The close cooperation with scientists from the Medical University of Vienna further increases the quality of your education. In addition to these scientists, our lecturers include top experts from the University of Vienna, the Vienna University of Technology, the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology in Seibersdorf, the IHS, the industry and research institutions as well as the full-time teachers at the FH Campus Wien. At our attractive main campus you will benefit from our modern state-of-the-art infrastructure, which also includes function rooms that are fully equipped with X-ray and ultrasound equipment as well as numerous computer workstations for image post-processing. Furthermore, you will also have the opportunity to join an interdisciplinary, professional community. There is great potential in research projects at the intersection of health and technology. One possibility for specialization is the current UAS research in the field of Computer Aided Surgery. In the future, surgeons will be able to use customized implants for reconstructive surgery and no longer have to rely on standard implants for the skull and facial area. With the help of special software, custom implants are designed on a computer based on CT data and reconstructed in three dimensions. The surgery itself can also be simulated on the computer.

In radiological technology, it is crucial to constantly keep up with the current scientific developments. Technological advances are reinforcing the trend towards interdisciplinary collaboration and making process optimization in examination and treatment procedures as well as the related know-how increasingly important. Interdisciplinary skills for management, research and education are now required in many areas of health care. This development corresponds to the mix of subjects covered in the master's degree program. 

The state-of-the-art contents of the master's degree program are organized in blocks that allow you to balance your professional and private life. Unlike other advanced professional training, in the program at FH Campus Wien you will benefit from a comprehensive education with an internationally accredited academic degree. And you will strengthen your expertise in your professional field. During the course of the program you can gain a further competitive edge through additional certifications in project management or with the "European Business Competence Licence (EBCL)".


What you will learn in the degree program

Through the master's degree program you will improve your technical and scientific expertise. Based on your knowledge of radiological technology and your professional experience and goals, you will have the opportunity to combine compulsory and elective modules and thus create your own personal specialization.

  • You will update your expert knowledge in the RT fields of computer tomography, magnetic resonance tomography, radiology including interventional radiology, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy.
  • You will expand your basic knowledge and specialize in one of the following fields:

    • RT process: computer tomography, magnetic resonance tomography, multimodality
    • Radiation protection
    • Medical technology and IT in medicine

  • You will specialize your knowledge in the field you have chosen through you master's thesis, which is preferably written as part of an accompanying project.
  • You will acquire knowledge and skills relevant for theoretical and practical teaching such as practical guidance and presentation techniques.
  • In addition, you will further develop your skills specifically in health, personnel and project management.

How you benefit

Technological leaps forward, scarcer resources in the health care industry, the increasing work in interdisciplinary teams and the ongoing academization of health professions are changing the occupational field. It is becoming increasingly important to optimize the processes for examination and treatment procedures. With this, come new tasks in teaching and science, as well as health, personnel and project management. The master's degree program will ensure that you continue to perform radiological examinations in a "state-of-the-art" manner. You will benefit from your know-how in the core areas of radiological technology and radiation protection in scientific projects and teaching. You will use your skills in practical instructions for the students or in lectures. In addition, you will take on coordinating, advisory, quality assurance and management positions in the intramural and extramural health sector. In the interdisciplinary collaboration with physicians, physicists, medical technicians and other health professionals, you will optimize examination and treatment procedures for the benefit of the patients. In companies you will be responsible for applications, sales and product management of large medical technology equipment.

Costs

The determination of the tuition fee is pursuant to section 9, paragraph 4 of the University of Applied Sciences Studies Act (FHStG), taking into account the actual costs.

For the reimbursement of this fee, we offer three models that are associated with different methods of payment:

Variant A

One-time payment: € 10.500,-

Payable 4 weeks before start of the first semester.

Variant B

Semester fee: € 2.700,- (total amount € 10.800,-)

Payable around 4 weeks before start of each semester

Variant C

This option takes into account the option of terminating the studies after any semester, which is the best option for those who prefer keeping open their options for early termination.

First, second and third semester, each € 3.325,-
Fourth semester € 1.725,-
(total amount € 11.700,-)
In each case due about four weeks prior to the start of the semester.

Admission

Admission requirements

  • Bachelor in Radiological Technology from a university of applied sciences in accordance with the MTD Act as amended
  • Diploma from a three-year radiological technology academy (since 1996) > Diploma from a school for radiological technology (before 1995)
  • Equivalent certification in radiography from abroad

Equivalence is determined by international agreements, validation or in individual cases a decision by the head of the academic section with the appropriate documents.
