At FH Campus Wien we draw on the knowledge incorporated in more than 60 of our programs to compile innovative degree programs spanning the intersections between disciplines. The concept of Health Assisting Engineering is that of an interdisciplinary Master's degree program. The program merges the two growth areas of Technology and of Health and will continue to develop this interface. Our know-how is in demand already: Our Master's degree program boasts contracts from and collaborations with organizations such as the Austrian Institute of Technology, the Ovos Media GmbH and the Danish Invencon, all of whom are specifically looking for people knowledgeable in this interdisciplinary field. We also cooperate with the Technical and the Medical Universities of Vienna. Interdisciplinary projects are part of our university's research strategy. This offers you the opportunity of participating in interdisciplinary projects. You thereby contribute to the active dialog in the Scientific Community. You are in a position in practice to build on your acquired and scientifically verified know-how. Practical relevance is also guaranteed through our Campus Lecture evenings which are open to all and offer contributions by prominent experts.
Combining know-how in the fields of technology and health is increasingly important in the professional field. Training and further education programs, however, still do not satisfy the actual demand for experts by far. This has occasioned us at FH Campus Wien to combine the disciplines in our institution in a unique way. Researchers, teaching staff and practitioners from several fields of technology and health have jointly structured a new type of Master's degree program. External research facilities, companies, professional associations and patient representatives contributed valuable input to develop a curriculum that is based on needs and state-of-the-art.
The Master's degree program includes current topics such as international trends and visions such as "Smart homes" and "Ambient assisted living". You will create benchmarks for future developments and applications. We are, for instance, working with Ovos Media on a Serious Game for the elderly, which will be used for the prevention and therapy of dementia: "Lebensnetz" is an Android computer game played on a tablet, the theme being the story of the life of the elderly. The game serves to rehash the story of your life. What is special here is that you as a technician or health expert, maybe as an occupational therapist, physiotherapist or health worker and nurse will, jointly with others, develop optimal solutions during your training.

This degree program will, as one of few trained experts, position you at the intersection of technology and health. You will support people in their daily life with the aid of technology-assisted diagnosis and therapy systems. You will also learn to apply systems to structure environments to enable disadvantaged people such as the elderly or people with dementia to remain active in their personal environment and also in public. Knowledge of Information Technology and Electronics combined with knowledge on Health Assisting Engineering leads to results oriented exclusively towards the needs of the user. Based on this special focus, the Master's degree program opens up numerous career opportunities such as product developer or manager, consultant, trainer, degree program compiler or coordinator, project manager or scientist, advanced clinical practitioner or hardware/software developer.

First semester students in technical or structural engineering degree programs have the opportunity of attending special refresher and preparatory courses pertinent to their degree program in subjects such as mathematics, physics, English, electronics, C programming etc. This will facilitate entry into the FH degree program and ensure your success in important degree program subjects.
