Innovation approaches to building materials in the sense of "green buildings" can be based on increasing resource efficiency and recyclability, minimizing environmental impact, implementing social aspects or improving functional performance. Possible solutions may be in the form of innovative materials and raw materials (e.g., biogenic plastics), technologies (e.g. nanotechnology), construction methods (e.g. flying plants), or processes (e.g. site waste reclamation logistics). The course project finance and financial management will offer the essentials of financing with a clear focus on real estate financing. In addition to basic business knowledge (structure of balance sheet, P/L account, differences in investment / financing, equity and debt capital, etc.), there will be a closer look on typical forms of financing (bank loans, leasing, factoring etc.) as well as new forms of investing and funding (e.g. crowdfunding). In this context repayment structures and collateral management will be presented. Moreover there will be discussions on hedging options (Cap, Swap, etc.)With the use of practical examples the theoretical knowledge should be strengthened.To understand banking we have a look on internal rating systems of banks and rating agencies as well as the consequently updated regulatory requirements for banks (Basel III, IV, ...). there are various excuses on the subject of rating (internal rating systems of credit institutions, rating agencies, credit bureaus), the new regulatory requirements for banks (Basel III, etc.) and other legal challenges (eg Mortgage and Real Estate Credit Law, KSchG, etc.).
Exam at the end of the lecture, either written test or via multiple-choice on the PC, ongoing participation is also requested.

As a highly trained civil engineer, a wide range of professional opportunities are open to you depending on the specializations you choose. Choosing a specialization in “Construction” and “Infrastructure Construction” will optimally prepare you for major national and international projects. In civil engineering and infrastructure construction you will assume project management responsibility in the construction of roads, railways, bridges, tunnels, landfills or in the context of hydraulic engineering projects. Choosing a specialization in “Sustainability in Civil Engineering” and “Repair and Revitalization” will pave the way for a professional future in building construction. You will expand your professional skills in the specific areas of revitalization, urban renewal, preservation of monuments and material and resource management.
Equivalence is determined by international agreements, validation or in individual cases a decision by the head of the academic section. In specific cases the head of the program may formally recognize a qualification.
A total of 60 places are available each year on the Master program in Civil Engineering and Construction Management. The ratio of places to applicants is currently around 1:2,5.
