In the 20 years and more that FH Campus Wien has been running civil engineering programs, the university of applied sciences has built up a wealth of expertise and a broad network that offers you numerous possibilities during your program, when seeking an internship and when embarking on a career. This network includes construction firms such as STRABAG SE, which also cooperates with FH Campus Wien in the further education of its staff. You may, furthermore, participate in R&D projects and in developing the dialog between practice practical application at the university while making contacts for your future professional life. To give one example, the faculty, in partnership with Vienna University of Technology and Graz University of Technology, is developing a practical engineering model to determine actual shear resistance in existing reinforced concrete bridges where this appears to be too low for continued use according to current calculation models. Elsewhere we offer regular training through our series of seminars dealing with selected topics from the construction business. Practical relevance is also guaranteed at our Campus Lecture evenings, which are open to all and feature contributions from prominent experts.
Even where order backlogs are large and winters are mild, the construction industry faces cost and deadline pressure in the face of rising staff and raw material costs. As this ramps up the demands on design planning and construction management, expertise in civil engineering and business administration is called for. It is the combination of engineering and business acumen that makes this all-round program so special. One major advantage for graduates of the program lies in the fact that you will focus on processes from the start of your career; the practical focus of the course will enable you to contribute value to your company after a brief induction. With your depth of know-how in contract management, claim management, cost planning and scheduling, you will be ideally placed to cope with complex tasks. You may specialize in the construction and completion of large-scale international projects or sustainability, acquiring knowledge of new technologies and processes as appropriate.

The course takes place in two parts.In the first part the calculation and construction of civil engineering works for infrastructure (eg, bridges, underpasses) are presented as an introduction. On the basis of the first part simple engineering structures will be designed and depicted in drawings and plans in the second part of the lecture (project-work). You will be qualified to work in many areas. As a well qualified all-rounder, you will be responsible for planning and processing construction projects. You may find yourself drafting projects in a planning office or realizing projects operationally (as a site manager, for example). You may work for the principal or the agent. The construction industry incorporates technical and engineering offices as well as the construction materials trade. You will also be in demand by big business such as chain stores, which maintain their own construction offices to handle the building needs of their branches. Many avenues will be open to you in public-sector and related organizations such as building authorities and public transport companies (ÖBB, ASFINAG, Wiener Linien, etc.).
Master course for advanced professional training, part-time
Equivalence is determined by international agreements, validation or in individual cases a decision by the head of the academic section. In specific cases the head of the program may formally recognize a qualification.
Minimum age 20 (with three years of vocational school) or 22 years. You may have obtained your vocational qualification through a pertinent apprenticeship, foreman examination or verifiable occupation within the construction sector. Applicants opting for this admission route should contact the secretary's office for the necessary forms.
A total of 50 places are available each year on the Bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering and Construction Management.

The admission procedure comprises a written test and an interview with the admission committee.
The Admissions Committee, which includes the Head of Studies and the Lecturers' Association, allocates the study places based on ranking. The overall process as well as all evaluations of the admission procedure are documented in a transparent manner. Information on acceptances, waiting list places or cancellations will be provided by the end of June 2020 at the latest.
Admission procedureYou will receive an invitation to the admissions procedure after positive examination of all relevant documents. You will receive the exact date and schedule for the admission interviews approximately one week before the allocated interview date. Due to the increased amount of time required for the interviews, further admission appointments may be postponed - this depends on the number of applicants.
