Competence Center for Applied Nursing Research

At the Competence Center for Applied Nursing Research, high-quality research is conducted in accordance with good scientific practice using all established qualitative and quantitative research methods (such as expert interviews, questionnaire surveys, observations, intervention studies) for evidence-basing and promoting quality assurance in inpatient, semi-inpatient and mobile health care nursing. This should make a substantial contribution to concrete care and nursing in the fields of work and responsibility of health and nursing.

Research Focus

Scientific research on the evidence-basing of specific nursing measures and the development of care and nursing concepts as well as verification of their efficiency and effectiveness is a central task of the Competence Center for Applied Nursing Research.

The main focus is on the topic of health promotion and health literacy from the perspective of health and nursing. Promoting these topics contributes significantly to making the right health-related decisions and enabling people to lead a self-determined life in this regard.

Evaluation research is mainly done by focusing on the accuracy and sustainability of health-promoting services for and with vulnerable groups. Furthermore, the evaluation of web-based course content for students is a central and future-oriented research area.

Another central research area, in which several FH Campus Wien departments are involved, is concerned with the development of technical solutions for the care of (elderly) people in different areas of their life. The development and refinement of assistive technologies is being developed in a multi-faceted manner through interdisciplinary approaches.
