Research Field Social Work Research

Current research questions and practice-relevant topics of social work are developed using quantitative, qualitative and triangulatory social science methods.

Applied research projects analyze the causes and manifestations of different psychosocial needs and their effects such as risk of exclusion. The main focus is on the various fields of action of professional social work. The further development of method-based and theory-based forms of intervention for social practice are a major goal of these research approaches to provide people in complex life situations needs-based support, aid and access to resources. In addition, the focus is on the evaluation of new occupational fields in the social sector and their requirements and the required competence profiles for professionals in this field.

The multifaceted practice of social space-oriented social work in the context of urban and regional development, social planning and its typical areas of application in public spaces is another research focus.
