Research Field Active and Assisted Living

“Active and Assisted Living” (AAL) is the synonym for the development of products and services based on information and communication technologies with a special focus on the needs of older people. Through innovative and user-friendly technical developments, the quality of life of older people, their independence, their safety and their well-being should be maintained or increased. First and foremost, this should ensure a life as independent as possible in the private home environment for as long as possible. That is why this kind of research focuses on users.

Research Goals

Our research activities focus on the development of:

  • Technology-based everyday objects
  • Smart living spaces
  • Target group-oriented health technologies
  • Innovative traffic concepts
  • Technologies to support care and therapy for the target group of older people, their environment (caregivers, therapists, nurses) as well as other stakeholders from business and politics
