Libraries
Most degree programmes have a library. Moreover, the possibility exists to borrow books from other Viennese universities or municipal libraries.A library card is required for borrowing books from the university library and municipal libraries. However, students receive this on presentation of a student identity card or a passport/identity card and proof of residence (Meldezettel).
Books can be ordered and the borrowing period extended via the on-line catalogues of the Austrian Library Network (Österreichische Bibiliothekenverbund):

Textbooks can be borrowed from the Textbook Collection for eight weeks and this period can also be extended.

Austrian National Library
The Austrian National Library is primarily a reference library, from which borrowing is only permitted in exceptional cases. You must request a user’s card at the service desk (a daily card costs 1.50 euros, a yearly card 10 euros). Additionally, an official photo-ID is necessary for permission to use the library.

Chamber of Labour Library
The Chamber of Labour (Arbeiterkammer) Library is considered to be the most important specialist library for sociology in Austria. At present the premises are being converted and at the same time the library is being newly organised. The book inventory is thereby not accessible until summer 2008. The use of the library is free of charge for all users – irrespective of an AK-membership. On the first visit an official photo-ID is required.

Computer rooms
Computer rooms are available at nearly every university location, which are free of charge for students’ use. In order to be able to use the computers, a password must be entered, which can be obtained at the secretary office.
