Parks and walking trails
Vienna has many parks which can be reached easily by public transport. Favourites of students are the Danube island (Donauinsel), the Prater, the Laaerberg, city park (Stadtpark) and the town hall park (Rathauspark). Lobau – National park Donau-Auen (Danube flood plains)
The Danube flood plains have been protected with national park status. The natural swimming pools in the Lobau are also very popular for instance the Dechant or the Panozzalacke.

Barbeque places in Vienna

Barbequing in Vienna is only permitted in one’s own garden or at specific places. The barbeque places must be reserved however before use. Popular places are to be found on the Danube island (Donauinsel) and the new Danube (Neue Donau). Further public places are at Steinhofgründen or near the Höhenstraße.

Schönbrunn – Palace and Zoo
Schönbrunn Palace is one of the most important visitor attractions in Vienna. There are many beautiful places in the palace park to discover and see, e.g. the maze, the palm house or the Japanese garden.
