Spatial and Clinical Social Work

Basic and specialised studies

First you will gain comprehensive knowledge and then you will specialise depending on your particular interests in one of the two specialisations on offer.
  • You will be intensively concerned with social work science, practical professional social work as well as quantitative and qualitative social research. You will deal with the principles of social ethics and learn about European Social Policies. Likewise, you will gain knowledge in project management, quality assurance and evaluation.

  • “Social spatial orientation” teaches context-analytical perspectives. You will be able to recognise relevant needs with the help of scientific support and to develop new proposals within projects. You will cast a critical eye over on national welfare systems and analyse social politics and their effects. In the field of gender & diversity you will study the importance and meaning of social variety.

  • “Clinical social work” covers the social dimension of health. You will deal with - also using case-management - illness-conditioned social consequences. In interventional social therapy you will learn to apply effective measures. In social psychiatry you will discover your socially conditioned contribution to mental health. Legal knowledge will round off your education/training. You can specialise for the first time in the field of non-compliance or hard to reach clients and thus extend your expertise in the fields of safety and social prevention.

Studying in Vienna – in the centre of Europe

Vienna is an internationally recognised academic location, where contacts are made and networks are developed. Internationalisation is a living process, to which the staff at the University of Applied Sciences, FH Campus Wien are dedicated. A first-class choice of placements and study stays abroad or collaboration in international projects is central to a modern education. We invite you to make use of these possibilities.

Practical emphasis

You have already gained professional experience in social work during or after your past education/training. No matter, whether you would like to aim for new targets with your Master degree course or gain more responsibility, you will be making a scientific contribution to the professional development of your academic section. Your professional development will take place at our University of Applied Sciences in the centre of a lively exchange between science and practise, which you will take part in by working on our R&D projects.
