Your future career

You will use the knowledge gained during your training in the principal fields of activity orthopaedics, traumatology, and neurology as well as in the growing fields geriatrics and oncology. You will work particularly as an expert in clinical practice, in teaching, in practice guidance, in interdisciplinary research projects and interfaces or in independent consultation. You will be active in the following areas:

• Public and private health service institutions, support organisations e.g. hospitals, daily hospitals, rehabilitation centres and convalescent homes, the Association of Viennese Hospitals
• Old people's and nursing homes
• Teaching, for example at universities of applied sciences and Universities, practise guidance
• University and non-university research
• Advocacy and/or self-help groups
• Physiotherapy practices

Career opportunities

Your clinical expertise and across-the-board skills will afford you good job chances in quality assurance and development of physiotherapy as well as in management positions of health care facilities, support organisations and physiotherapy practices. In science and research you will have many possibilities. You will present research results in international science forums and to the policy makers in the interdisciplinary field as well as in the health sector. You will be able to make evidence-based decisions and represent these in interdisciplinary teams.
