Programme Overview
With the help of bioinformatics, the enormous amounts of data produced in applied life sciences can be effectively analysed and processed. As an interdisciplinary science, it provides solutions for biological issues by applying informatics methods. It is thus possible to make predictions or simulations and calculations on the computer based on the data provided by experiments in molecular biology.
You will develop application software that can be used for analysing data with exceptionally high throughput. The high-throughput analysis method makes it possible to perform the analysis of a multitude of cells, create a multi-dimensional model, and link all the relevant data that is required for the field of applied life sciences in particular. As part of the system biology, bioinformatics supports both research as well as industrial development. In the programme you will combine your knowledge of biochemical and molecular biological processes within the body together with applied informatics, data evaluation and project management. The programme will promote your analytical and process-oriented thinking skills, your ability to solve problems, your social competence and outstanding knowledge of the English language.
The next master degree program will start 2014/15.
