Overview of your studies

The development of the site of both our degree programme “Bioengineering” and the “BOKU” (University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences) in Muthgasse to the Vienna Institute of Biotechnology (VIBT) until 2009 is another milestone in the development of Vienna to an internationally recognised biotechnology centre. Besides the location and close cooperation with the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences our degree programmes are strongly characterised by their application-oriented contents.

In the degree programme “Bioengineering” you will become acquainted with the route “from gene to product”: we will train you for the work in development and production as well as in quality control and quality assurance, particularly in biotechnology enterprises, in the food industry and also in authorities and hospitals.

To assure the high and consistent quality of biopharmaceutical and other biotechnological products, is becoming ever more important and therefore forms one focus of our degree programme. You will apply the theoretical knowledge that you acquire during laboratory practicals, an (industrial) placement semester and your work on R&D projects. These tasks require an interest in natural sciences and technology and analytical intellectual capacity.
